Jamie Amelio
My personal story
Staying Bothered
Jamie is a CEO, philanthropist, author and public speaker, but most importantly, the mother of six children and GiGi to her grandson Lev. She is empowered by life’s challenges and by family and friends who have kept her buoyed above the fray.
Though a Texan, born and bred, she has lived across the globe, from Austin to Los Angeles, Connecticut to Singapore. She is the founder and CEO of two non-profit organizations, Caring for Cambodia (CFC) and Staying Bothered, and the creator of the Staying Bothered Movement.

Jamie was inspired to create CFC when a little girl came up to her at the temples of Angkor Wat in Siem Reap asking for a dollar to pay for school. Jamie visited the child’s school that afternoon and saw 75 dirty kids sitting at tables in a dilapidated, dirt-floor building waiting for the teacher to arrive. She never did, but CFC was born that day.
CFC has changed the lives of tens of thousands of Cambodian children. Jamie started it in 2003 by restoring one school. That one building has grown into 21 model schools, preK-12th grade. Collectively, they provide 6,700 students annually with trained teachers, two meals a day, and the chance for a better, brighter future.
